Police Officer Fighting For His Life After Seriously Injured By Angry Residents During Narok Rally

A police officer narrowly escaped death after being attacked by a group of protesters during a political rally in Narok. The incident occurred during a Linda Mwananchi gathering led by key opposition figures, drawing concern over rising tensions at public events.

The rally brought together leaders including Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino, and James Orengo. The event attracted a large crowd, with many residents turning up to listen to speeches focused on governance and public concerns.

Trouble began when police officers attempted to control the crowd using tear gas. Witnesses said the move angered some protesters, who turned against one officer.

He was reportedly beaten and chased away as the situation quickly got out of hand.

The officer managed to escape with injuries and was later assisted by colleagues. Security personnel were forced to regroup as tensions remained high for a short period before calm was gradually restored.

Leaders present at the rally continued with their programme after the disruption, though the incident raised fresh questions about safety at political gatherings. Organisers had earlier called for a peaceful event, but the confrontation showed how quickly crowds can turn when tensions rise.

Authorities are expected to review the incident and assess the conduct of both police and attendees. Cases of violence during public meetings have become a growing concern, especially during politically charged events.

Local residents expressed worry over the safety of such gatherings, urging both leaders and security agencies to ensure better planning and communication.

As political activities increase across the country, calls are growing for calm and respect to avoid further confrontations.
