Why Raila Odinga's Family is Being Forced to Give Away Hundreds of Cows Gifted By Mourners

As hundreds of mourners continue visiting the homes of Raila Odinga at Opoda and Kango Ka Jaramogi to pay their respects, the family has received an overwhelming number of livestock gifts. Surprisingly, they may not be able to keep most of them.

The outpouring of support has been massive, with people from all walks of life donating hundreds of cows to show love, unity, and respect to the Odinga family.

However, keeping all these animals has become a major challenge for the family. Among the main reasons are the large number of cows received, which has made it difficult to manage them all during this period of mourning. Feeding, veterinary care, and general maintenance have also become costly and demanding.

There are also cultural and traditional considerations that guide how such gifts should be handled, meaning some may have to be given away or shared according to customs.

Even though the gesture comes from a place of kindness and deep respect, it has created a heavy responsibility for the Odinga family. What was meant as a sign of love and unity has turned into a practical challenge that may be difficult to sustain.

This situation shows how public sympathy, while well-intentioned, can sometimes create an unexpected burden for those it is meant to comfort.
