Jonathan Bii Chelilim’s motorcade was reportedly forced to flee after rowdy residents allegedly attacked the convoy during a voter registration drive in Kesses.
According to reports, vehicles linked to the United Democratic Alliance governor were stoned in the Bayete area of Kesses Sub-County while taking part in the “Niko Kadi” voter registration campaign.
Images from the scene showed several vehicles with visible damage following the incident, although it was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured.
The “Niko Kadi” initiative has recently been adopted by politicians in different parts of the country to mobilize eligible citizens to register as voters ahead of future elections.
At the same time, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission made a final appeal to Kenyans to register as voters before the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise officially closes today, Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
With the registration deadline ending today, centres across the country are expected to experience heavy turnout as eligible voters rush to complete the process before the cutoff time.
