Kenyan Man Leaves Behind Wife and 3 Kids, Lands Back Home In Self Deportation to Start Afresh After 16 Years Stay in US

Samuel Kangethe spent 16 years building a life in Michigan, USA.

He came as a student, earned a master’s degree in finance, found work as an accountant, and raised a family.

His wife Latavia and their three children grew up in the country he called home.

But a problem with his immigration status has forced Samuel to make a tough choice.

An old case from 2014, when US officials said his marriage was not genuine, caused his legal papers to be questioned.

Although he has never committed a crime, Samuel now faces the threat of deportation.

The US government recently stepped up efforts to deport immigrants without proper documents. Samuel was worried he might be arrested suddenly.

After many talks with his wife, he decided to leave the country by himself instead of waiting to be forced out.

“I want to leave on my own terms,” Samuel said.

“It’s better to go voluntarily than to be taken away in handcuffs.”Latavia is afraid of what will happen next.

She will raise their children alone and handle everything by herself. The children are sad and do not fully understand why their father must go.

Friends describe Samuel as a hardworking and honest man. They say he was always ready to help others and was a respected member of the community. Many have promised to support his family after he leaves.

Samuel spends his last days in the US focusing on his family. He enjoys simple moments, like playing soccer with his youngest daughter in their backyard.

He hopes these memories will give him strength when he returns to Kenya.

The US government encourages immigrants facing deportation to register and leave voluntarily. This approach aims to avoid long detentions and make the process smoother.
