REVEALED: The Threatening Call Dr Obwaka Received From President Ruto’s Office Before His Death

Fresh claims have emerged surrounding the final days of Job Obwaka after his widow alleged that he received a phone call from a senior official linked to President William Ruto’s office in the days leading up to his death.

Speaking during a memorial service held on May 14 at CITAM Valley Road, Everose Chemutai said her husband had been involved in a hospital reform process that later escalated into a legal dispute involving The Nairobi Hospital.

According to Everose, Dr Obwaka received a call from a senior figure allegedly linked to the President’s office, instructing him to withdraw a High Court case tied to the leadership wrangles at the hospital.

She told mourners that the late doctor declined to comply with the alleged directive.

The widow claimed that after refusing the request, Dr Obwaka became increasingly anxious and began expressing fears about his safety and that of his family.

Everose said the pressure surrounding the dispute created significant tension at home, with the doctor reportedly experiencing sleepless nights and emotional distress.

She further alleged that Dr Obwaka would sometimes ask family members to check on him if he remained out of contact for several hours, citing concerns for his personal safety.

According to her account, the situation worsened as the legal dispute intensified, with the doctor allegedly receiving further disturbing communications.

Everose also linked her husband’s arrest and detention in March 2026 to the same hospital governance dispute, saying the experience worsened his already fragile health condition.

Dr Obwaka was arrested in Nairobi and charged alongside other directors over allegations including conflict of interest, failure to submit statutory returns, and irregular registration of members under the Kenya Hospital Association. He denied all charges in court.

The dispute at The Nairobi Hospital has centred on control of the Kenya Hospital Association, which owns the facility, leading to prolonged legal battles and leadership divisions.

Everose said she chose to speak publicly during the memorial service because she wanted to explain the pressures her family allegedly endured before her husband’s death.

The allegations have not been independently verified by authorities, and no official statement has confirmed any link between state officials and the claims made by the widow.

Investigations surrounding Dr Obwaka’s death and the broader hospital dispute are still ongoing.

Meanwhile, mourners and colleagues continue to pay tribute to the late gynaecologist, describing him as a dedicated medical professional who served patients for many years.
