"Take Heart Mama" Kenyans Console Dalmas Otieno’s Widow After Heartbreaking Post

Kenyans are mourning the death of former Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno Anyango, who passed away on September 7 at his home in Kileleshwa, Nairobi.

The veteran politician, who served the country for decades, died at the age of 80. His family has not released the cause of death, though close sources confirmed he had been undergoing treatment in a Nairobi hospital.

A week after the sad news, his third wife, Dorothy Otieno, broke her silence with a painful Facebook post. In her message, she pleaded: “Darling, please wake up.”

The post left many Kenyans in tears, prompting an outpouring of messages of support from friends, relatives, and ordinary citizens.

Dorothy and Dalmas got married in 2013 in a colorful ceremony that attracted national atten
tion. She wore a striking blue kitenge while Dalmas appeared in a classic suit.

The event was graced by the late Senator Otieno Kajwang and then Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti.

Reports at the time revealed that Dalmas paid 46 cows and KSh 40,000 as dowry, a gesture that showed his deep respect for tradition.
Family Losses

Dalmas had three wives in his lifetime. His second wife, Jane Otieno, died in February 2024. At her funeral, he described her as a strong and elegant woman who had stood by him through life’s toughest challenges.

Her passing was widely mourned, with top leaders attending her burial to show respect. Now, barely a year later, the family has been thrown into another painful season of mourning.
Kenyans Send Condolences

Dorothy’s post drew reactions from across the country. Many offered words of comfort:

“Pole sana madam for losing your heartbeat,” wrote Michael Koriko.

“Take courage and carry on his legacy,” added Kennedy Odero.

“He was a good man who touched many lives,” remembered Gilbert Henry.

Others reminded her that Dalmas’s contributions to Kenya would not be forgotten, calling him a leader who served with dignity.

Dalmas Otieno was more than a family man. He was a seasoned leader who represented Rongo Constituency and also served in senior government roles. His passing closes an important chapter in Kenya’s political history.
