Rigathi Gachagua Warns Gen Zs, Reveals What Will Happen If They Vote Back Ruto Again In 2027

Former Deputy President and Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has urged young Kenyans to take charge of the country’s future by registering as voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in Ruiru on Saturday, Gachagua directly appealed to Gen Z, reminding them of their power in numbers and referencing the recent youth-led protests.

“You cannot vote back someone who has caused the suffering of our youth. God will curse you if you do. Gen Z, register as voters. On election day, wake up early and cast your vote. When you lead, men and women will follow,” he told the crowd.

Gachagua declared that he will be on the presidential ballot in 2027, claiming many Kenyans see him as the only option to remove President William Ruto from office.

“Kenyans have told me I am the only way we can chase him from his seat. So, I am vying to be president of Kenya,” he added.

The DCP leader also outlined the pillars of his manifesto, promising sweeping reforms if elected. Among his pledges are:

Free Education – Gachagua promised to restore and expand the free education system introduced under the late President Mwai Kibaki.

Healthcare Reforms – He vowed to stock hospitals with medicine and make childbirth free for all mothers.

Scrapping the Housing Levy – He said the current housing program burdens ordinary Kenyans and pledged to abolish it.

“My first act will be to ensure every child has access to education, hospitals have medicine, and mothers give birth without paying. I will also remove the housing fund that Kenyans reject,” he explained.

Gachagua accused President Ruto of betraying him and the Kenyan people. He recalled how he campaigned for Ruto in 2022 but later felt deceived.

“Ruto came pretending to be a sheep, but he was a hyena. I trusted him and helped him rise, but he betrayed us,” Gachagua said.

He warned young people not to repeat the same mistake in 2027, insisting that their vote will decide the country’s direction.
