"Even If You Side With Gachagua, Kikuyus Will Never Vote For You Nairobi Governor" Babu Owino Told

Homabay Town MP George Kaluma has cautioned Embakasi East legislator Babu Owino against shifting his political loyalty from ODM leader Raila Odinga to Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s camp.

Speaking on X, Kaluma said abandoning Raila for Gachagua would be the fastest way to end Babu’s political career.

According to him, the DP’s faction is not only hostile but also unreliable for Babu’s ambitions.

“Babu, leaving Baba for Gachagua and his hateful group will be your shortest political walk to oblivion,” Kaluma warned.

He urged the outspoken MP to remain loyal to ODM and Raila, who has been his long-term political mentor.

The legislator went further to dismiss Babu’s potential gubernatorial ambitions in Nairobi, saying the Kikuyu community would not rally behind him even if he aligned with Gachagua.

“Kikuyus will never vote for you to be the Governor of Nairobi, NEVER,” Kaluma stated firmly.

His sharp remarks came just after Babu Owino hinted during a media interview that his Kenya Moja faction could one day join forces with the United Opposition in preparation for 2027.

Babu argued that alliances are built with time and proper organization.

“The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 3 that there is a time and a season for everything. When that time comes, we will unite with the United Opposition,” Babu said.

He, however, insisted that his team still needed to strengthen its base before taking that step.

Babu also voiced fears that Raila Odinga might shift his political support to Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja in 2027 due to their warming ties.

This concern has sparked speculation about how ODM will manage its Nairobi strategy ahead of the next election.

Earlier this week, Raila convened a closed-door meeting with ODM lawmakers and Nairobi MCAs.

The gathering resolved to suspend Governor Sakaja’s impeachment bid and give him one more month to address leadership concerns. Raila urged both sides to put service delivery above political wrangles.
