Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has once again cautioned the opposition, saying there will be no shortcut to power through violence or destruction of property.
Speaking over the weekend, Kindiki addressed boda boda operators and members of Al-Azizia Football Club.
He firmly stated that the government will not allow chaos to become a tool for those seeking leadership.
“Kenya is a democracy. We have clear systems that allow anyone to compete for leadership through the ballot. What we will not accept is the use of violence, looting, or intimidation to destabilize our country,” Kindiki said.
The DP accused some leaders of misleading young people into engaging in unlawful acts, warning that such actions not only threaten national peace but also destroy businesses that citizens have built with hard work.
He emphasized that property destruction will never be tolerated.
“The idea that politics can be managed through violence is dangerous and selfish. Those pushing it do not care about the safety of Kenyans or the future of our children. They only care about gaining power at any cost,” he added.
Kindiki reminded Kenyans that elections are held every five years, giving those who lose a fair chance to try again. He called on the opposition to respect the will of the people and let the elected leaders deliver on their promises.
“Politics is not enmity. When you win, you serve the people with humility. When you lose, you prepare for the next opportunity. That is how democracy works,” he said.
The Deputy President also stressed that the Kenya Kwanza government is currently focused on completing projects and addressing the needs of citizens, not on constant political battles.
He assured Kenyans that the administration will remain committed to improving lives and securing peace across the nation.
“We want to give Kenyans results. When the time for politics comes, we will engage fully because we believe in our ideas. But for now, we must deliver development,” he concluded.
