Whooping Amount of Money Oscar Sudi Gifted Choir After Emotional Performance at George Were Funeral

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi pledged Ksh 200,000 to the choir that performed during the funeral service of late pilot George Were.

The funds, Sudi said, would help the group acquire new uniforms, rewarding their dedication and service at the memorial in Nyakach, Kisumu County.

“The choir niaje, nitawapatia elfu mia mbili mnunue uniform,” Sudi stated, emphasizing the importance of recognizing their role in honoring the late pilot.

Pilot George Were died tragically in a helicopter crash on February 28, which also claimed six other lives, including Johana Ng’eno.

The incident shook the nation, highlighting the risks faced by pilots and the deep loss experienced by families and communities affected by the crash.

During the funeral service, the choir’s performance drew widespread admiration for its solemnity and emotional resonance, leaving attendees moved and reflective.

Sudi’s announcement was met with cheers from choir members, who expressed gratitude for the support and promised to put it toward quality uniforms.

Community leaders praised the MP for his gesture, noting that such support encourages cultural groups to maintain high standards and honor national events.

The late pilot’s funeral brought together family, friends, and officials, all mourning a man remembered for his dedication to service and aviation excellence.

Choirs and cultural performers across the country often face financial challenges, and Sudi’s promise sets a precedent for supporting local talent at significant national occasions.

Sudi has previously been active in supporting community initiatives, from education projects to cultural events, reinforcing his reputation as a hands-on politician in Kisumu and beyond.

The funds are expected to be disbursed promptly, allowing the choir to procure uniforms and continue performing at future events, maintaining their visibility in the community.

Funeral attendees lauded the gesture as a meaningful tribute not only to the choir but also to the memory of those lost in the tragic helicopter crash.

Sudi concluded by encouraging other leaders to support cultural groups, arguing that investing in local talent strengthens community bonds and preserves national heritage.
