Gachagua ally Irungu Nyakera on Thursday afternoon visited former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju at Karen Hospital, where he is recovering.
Photos shared after the visit showed Tuju seated and no longer reliant on life support machines, signaling signs of improvement in his condition.
Nyakera described the meeting as deeply reflective, noting that both leaders have recently faced difficult experiences.
He revealed that their conversation centered on personal challenges, including incidents where properties and efforts they had built over time were allegedly targeted by individuals believed to be either law enforcement officers or organized groups.
“In just a matter of days, we have each faced the pain of seeing what we have built targeted,” Nyakera said, emphasizing the emotional toll of such events.
According to Nyakera, the discussion went beyond their individual experiences and touched on broader concerns about the country’s direction.
He warned that such incidents point to a worrying trend where disagreements and differences are increasingly met with hostility and destruction.
The former Principal Secretary called for a renewed commitment to national unity, urging leaders and citizens alike to promote tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
He stressed the importance of safeguarding the rights and property of all Kenyans, regardless of their political or social standing.
Nyakera further noted that no Kenyan should live in fear of losing what they have worked hard to build, adding that respect for the rule of law must remain a cornerstone of the nation’s democracy.
Tuju’s improving condition offered a moment of relief, even as the visit highlighted the need for deeper reflection on country’s social and political climate.
