Low Turnout Marks Oburu's Rally In Mombasa as Sifuna, Babu Owino Draws Hundreds At Rally in Nairobi

According to available sources of news, the political landscape in the country is quickly heating up.

It has always been a game of numbers and if today’s split rallies are any indication, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is facing a seismic shift in its internal power dynamics.

While the party’s official leadership haas attempted to project strength at the historic Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa, the reality on the ground told a much lonelier story.

In Mombasa, the ‘Linda Ground’ brigade, led by Party Leader Oburu Odinga has been met with a sight no politician wants to see.

In a video shared by Standard Digital rows of empty white tents and a lukewarm reception can be seen from a distance. Despite the historic billing of the venue, the energy is noticeably thin.

On the other part, their is a sharp contrast of scenes in Kitengela. Following his controversial removal as Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has taken his Linda Mwananchi team to the streets and the people have responded in hundreds.

Flanked by firebrands like Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Orengo, Sifuna has not just drawn a crowd, he has drawn a movement.

Babu Owino has taken the opportunity as he points out that, it is now official that there is a growing disconnect between those holding titles and those holding the hearts of the voters.

His message is clear that while one faction might have the party certificate, the Sifuna-led team has the actual members.

This showdown marks a turning point for ODM. The "young leaders are no longer waiting for permission to lead, they are actively demonstrating that their influence isn't tied to an official office.

As the party continues to tear at the seams, the contrast between the sea of people in Kitengela and the vacant seats in Mombasa suggests that the ground has already shifted.
