Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has claimed that President William Ruto is steadily losing political support and will be isolated by mid-year due to what he described as failure to deliver on promises made to Kenyans.
Speaking on Sunday during a church service in the Mt Kenya region, which was also attended by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other opposition leaders, Kalonzo said growing public dissatisfaction with the government was pushing many former allies and supporters away from the President.
According to Kalonzo, the high cost of living, increased taxation, unemployment and unfulfilled development pledges have eroded public confidence in the Kenya Kwanza administration.
He argued that Kenyans from different regions are increasingly united by shared economic struggles, which he said would shape the country’s political direction.
“By June this year, President Ruto will remain politically alone because many people are walking away from him,” Kalonzo told congregants. “Kenyans are tired of broken promises and empty assurances.”
The Wiper leader further asserted that the opposition was gaining momentum across the country and would mount a formidable challenge ahead of the 2027 General Election.
He expressed confidence that a united opposition would defeat President Ruto at the ballot, saying the public was ready for alternative leadership.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who has recently aligned himself with opposition figures, was also present at the service.
His attendance in Mt Kenya alongside Kalonzo and other leaders was viewed as a signal of shifting political alliances in the region, which has traditionally been a stronghold of President Ruto.
Opposition leaders attending the service emphasized the need for unity, urging Kenyans to remain peaceful while pushing for accountability and better governance.
They also defended their presence in churches, saying places of worship should remain open to all leaders regardless of political affiliation.
The remarks come amid rising political activity as both government and opposition camps intensify early campaigns and grassroots engagements, with the 2027 elections already beginning to dominate national discourse.
