Speaking on Friday, December 19, 2025, during James’ funeral in Tuuti, Bungoma County, Wanyonyi described the loss as devastating, saying his brother had been taken too soon.
In an emotional message shared on social media, the legislator reflected on the strong bond they shared and the guidance James offered throughout his life.
“James, my big brother, gone too soon,” Wanyonyi wrote.
“We loved you deeply and wished we had more time together, but God has called you home.”
Wanyonyi said his late brother played a key mentoring role in his life, often offering advice that shaped his character, decisions, and values.
“When I look back at the moments we shared, I remember the wise counsel you always gave me,” he said.
He described James as a natural unifier who avoided conflict and worked quietly to keep peace both within the family and in the wider community.
“You were our leader and a peacemaker,” Wanyonyi said.
