Malala, who spoke during a political event on Thursday, September 25, said Jubilee, which is linked to former president Uhuru Kenyatta, is being used as a tool to divide the Mt. Kenya region.
According to Malala, Jubilee is no longer serving the interests of the united opposition. Instead, he claimed the party is working closely with President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government to weaken other opposition groups.
He warned that Jubilee’s activities could cause unnecessary divisions, especially in Mt. Kenya, which has been a political stronghold for former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
Malala did not mince his words. He said he was speaking openly because, unlike Mt. Kenya leaders, he comes from Kakamega and can freely give his views without fear of local backlash.
“That party must be warned. If they are truly part of the united opposition, then they should stop creating confusion in Mt. Kenya,” he said, drawing applause from his supporters.
He also suggested that Jubilee’s actions showed clear signs of collaboration with Ruto’s party.
“If they appear with red wheelbarrows and symbols of Kenya Kwanza, then we know they are not with us. Such moves only show that their loyalty lies elsewhere,” Malala added.
During the same event, Malala declared that Rigathi Gachagua would be on the ballot in 2027 as DCP’s presidential candidate. He said the party’s leadership had already agreed that Gachagua was the best choice to challenge Ruto in the next election.
“On this 25th day of September, the Kiambu Aspirants Chapter has resolved that our flagbearer in 2027 is none other than our party leader, His Excellency Rigathi Gachagua,” he announced.
