"Your Arrogance Hasn't Ended" Ngunjiri Wambugu Roasts Gachagua After His DCP Party's Wins

Fiery political exchange has erupted online between former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu and DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua, following Gachagua's celebration of his new party's victories in three key ward by-elections.

Wambugu publicly accused Gachagua of continued arrogance in a sharp rebuke that has ignited fierce debate among Kenyans.

Rigathi Gachagua sparked the confrontation with a triumphant post celebrating the success of his seven-month-old party, the Democratic Congress Party (DCP).

Gachagua offered "hearty congratulations" to his newly elected MCAs in Narok Township, Kariobangi North, and Kisa East wards.

In a defiant tone, he saluted the voters for "standing up to intimidation, goons, state-sponsored militia and violent attacks by the police," while boasting that his "newest kid in the Block" had "whitewashed old parties."

Ngunjiri Wambugu, taking direct aim at the DCP leader's celebratory message, fired back with a scathing public post.

Wambugu responded, "Yaani kiburi haijaisha my friend? " which translates to, "So the arrogance hasn't ended my friend?"

He went on to dismiss the significance of the wins in the broader political landscape, warning Gachagua not to overstate his influence.

Ngunjiri Wambugu continued his critique by stating, "Anyway. The best thing about this by-election is that you cannot call yourself Mt Kenya Kingpin anymore.

Labda ujaribu uwe Kingpin wa Kakamega ama Narok. Juu Nairobi hauwezmek." (Perhaps you can try to be the Kingpin of Kakamega or Narok. Because you can't manage Nairobi).

Wambugu concluded his post by advising his own camp to organise quietly without making noise.

The public clash has drawn a flurry of reactions from Kenyans online, highlighting the deep political divisions.

Gachagua's supporters praised him for securing victories against the government's machinery, with one user commenting, "He did so well, the Government with all the machinery they only managed such a small margin."

However, other commentators were more cynical, with one predicting the new MCAs would not remain loyal, stating, "They will serve for 1 year in 2027 both of them will have joined Ruto camp or home they will go by 8am."

The exchange underscores the intense political rivalry as Gachagua carves out a space for his new party on the national stage.
