"I Am Your New Baba," Kalonzo Vows to Fulfill Raila’s Canaan Dream in Nyanza

Kalonzo Musyoka, leader of the Wiper Patriotic Front, has returned to Nyanza, pledging to continue the late Raila Odinga’s political legacy and fulfill his Canaan dream.

Speaking at a rally in Ugunja, Siaya County, he positioned himself as the rightful heir to Raila’s vision, promising to protect the interests of the region and uphold good governance.

He praised Nyanza residents for their active role in defending the constitution, stressing that their unity must be preserved even after Raila’s passing.

Kalonzo described himself as Raila’s “younger father,” committing to safeguard the community and resist any forces he sees as threats to regional cohesion.

Reflecting on his personal sacrifices, Kalonzo recalled stepping aside from the Deputy President race in 2022 when Raila endorsed Martha Karua as his running mate.

He emphasized that his political journey has always been intertwined with supporting Raila’s goals, highlighting loyalty and shared vision as key elements of his leadership.

Kalonzo urged residents to remain united in honour of Raila and avoid influence from those pretending to be allies but intending to disrupt community solidarity.

He framed his campaign as a continuation of Raila’s mission, asserting that political unity in Luo Nyanza is essential for the region’s future development.

During the rally, Kalonzo also campaigned for Wiper candidate Orodi Odhiambo, seeking public support for his bid in the upcoming Ugunja parliamentary election.

He stated that electing Orodi would be a tribute to the party’s longstanding collaboration with Raila and its commitment to serving the people of Nyanza.

Accompanied by leaders from the United Opposition, including DAP-K head Eugene Wamalwa and lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, Kalonzo highlighted the importance of strategic alliances in advancing regional interests.

He stressed that the collective effort of opposition leaders is vital to continue Raila’s vision for equitable governance.

He called on residents to be vigilant and reject divisive tactics by politicians masquerading as Raila’s supporters.

Kalonzo concluded by reiterating his pledge to implement Raila’s Canaan dream, promising to prioritize development, unity, and constitutional integrity across Nyanza.

This rally marked a significant moment for Wiper as it seeks to consolidate Raila’s legacy while preparing for upcoming political contests.

Kalonzo’s message combined loyalty, strategic foresight, and a call for regional cohesion to strengthen his position as Raila’s political successor.
