Video of Raila Odinga's Last Day in India Before Death Breaks Hearts

A touching video believed to show the last moments of ODM leader Raila Odinga in India has moved many Kenyans across social media. 

The former Prime Minister reportedly passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, while receiving treatment in India.

According to sources close to the family, Raila had travelled abroad a few weeks ago for medical care. 

On the morning of his reported death, he is said to have suffered a cardiac arrest during his usual morning walk. Efforts by doctors to save his life were unsuccessful.

A short video shared online showed Raila looking calm and cheerful as he shared a meal with a close friend identified as Oketch Salah. The two were seen chatting and laughing together in what appeared to be a relaxed atmosphere. 

Oketch later posted the clip with a heartfelt caption describing the time they spent together as full of “lessons, laughter, and wisdom.”

Just hours after uploading the video, Oketch confirmed the sad news, describing Raila as a “father, friend, and teacher.” 

He expressed his sorrow, saying the moments they shared would remain in his heart forever. His tribute touched many Kenyans, who quickly flooded social media with messages of condolence and disbelief.

Supporters and leaders alike shared emotional posts, remembering Raila as a man who dedicated his life to serving the nation. 

Comments such as “Go well Baba” and “Rest in peace our leader” filled Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) timelines, showing the deep respect and love Kenyans had for him. 

A few days before his death, another photo of Raila in a blue shirt had surfaced online, showing him in high spirits. 

Many had hoped it was a sign of recovery. 

Sadly, the latest news brought shock and grief to those who looked up to him for inspiration and leadership.
