Unexpected Turn as Khalwale Drops Bombshell on Who Raila Allegedly Chose as His Political Successor

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has sparked fresh debate over the Odinga family’s political future following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Speaking during an interview on Shahidi TV, the outspoken senator made surprising claims about who Raila wanted to take over his political legacy.

According to Khalwale, it was not Winnie Odinga or Raila Junior, as many Kenyans have believed, but rather Rosemary Odinga, Raila’s eldest surviving daughter.

He said that before his passing, Raila had privately shared his wish for Rosemary to continue his political journey after the death of his firstborn son, Fidel Odinga.

"Like I can comfortably, without fear of contradiction, confirm to Kenyans that Baba’s choice amongst his children for who would succeed him was not Raila Junior, was not Winnie. After Fidel died, Raila told Rosemary to prepare to become the MP of Kibra," Khalwale revealed.

The senator went on to narrate how Rosemary had personally approached him when she decided to venture into politics.

"Rosemary came for me and told me, I would like you to take me to Kibra. And I took her to Kamkunji Grounds for her first rally," he said, recalling how confident and passionate she was about serving the people.

Khalwale added that Rosemary’s political career was sadly interrupted when she fell seriously ill and later lost her eyesight. He noted that Raila often traveled to South Africa to visit her in the hospital and would later tell him, "Your friend has greeted you. She’s doing well and will recover."

The senator’s comments have stirred discussion across the country, with many Kenyans now wondering whether Rosemary might return to politics in the future, and if she will fulfill the vision her father reportedly had for her.
