The community is grieving the loss of Richard Mutua Mulwa, a respected deputy principal who recently retired from his teaching career.
Mulwa, who served at Matheani Secondary School in Kathonzweni, Makueni County, tragically died in a road accident shortly after leaving his position.
News of his passing spread quickly on social media, leaving many friends, former students, and colleagues in shock and sorrow.
Mulwa was well-known for his dedication to education and his ability to connect with students.
Many remembered him as a caring mentor who inspired countless young people during his years as a teacher.
Before becoming the deputy principal at Matheani Secondary School, Mulwa taught mathematics and physics at Nzeveni Secondary School in Mbooni.
His commitment to these subjects helped many students excel and develop a love for learning.
As news of his death sank in, former students took to social media platforms to express their condolences and share their memories of Mulwa.
Debby Debra, one of his former students, wrote, “His legacy will live on in the success of those he taught. May his soul rest in peace, my math teacher.”
Many others echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the positive impact Mulwa had on their lives.
Mule Ishmael, who was a student at Nzeveni in the early 1990s, shared his sadness, saying, “May his soul rest in eternal peace.” This reflects the strong bond Mulwa formed with his students over the years.
James Kimeu, another former student, expressed a desire to visit Mulwa’s family in Machakos County, showing how much the community cared for him.
He asked, “If he were your teacher, could we visit his home if we're around Machakos?”
Jane Wanza, a colleague and friend, remembered Mulwa as a humble and kind person. She wrote, “Rest easy, bro, colleague, rest in power.”
Another former student, known as Born Brownie, shared his gratitude, saying, “Rest peacefully, Mr. Mulwa. You shaped and supported me, even when my behavior was not the best.”
