On Friday, October 17, a state funeral service will take place at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi. The event will be attended by local and international dignitaries, celebrating Raila’s decades of leadership and sacrifice for democracy in Kenya. His body will then spend the night at his Karen home.
The journey will continue on Saturday, October 18, to Kisumu, where thousands of supporters are expected to pay their respects at Moi Stadium. Later that evening, the convoy will proceed to Bondo for an overnight vigil.
Raila will be laid to rest on Sunday, October 19, at his ancestral home in Bondo, Siaya County. The burial service will follow Anglican Church traditions, reflecting his deep Christian faith.
