Lawyer Danstan Omari has praised President William Ruto, proclaiming his superior financial prowess compared to the late Mwai Kibaki.
Omari, speaking on Friday, emphasized Ruto's distinct ability to augment the country's revenue through unprecedented channels, surpassing the financial achievements of Kibaki.
He highlighted the diverse sectors Ruto has explored to generate funds, labeling them as "totally very virgin."
He contended that Ruto's financial accomplishments have outshone those of Kibaki, Uhuru, and Moi, asserting that the current president has amassed greater wealth for the nation.
"The sectors that he has gone to look for funds is totally very virgin. Every sector the president is raising revenue and therefore we expect that he has more money than Kibaki, Uhuru and Moi had," Omari said on K24 TV.
He said that Ruto has managed to do what even Kibaki, combined with Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga during their grand coalition government, could not achieve.
"If indeed the president wants to compare himself to the late Kibaki, I'll tell everybody for free that the President (William Ruto) is far much better than Kibaki. Shem Ochuodho, Raila Odinga were in that government. Kibaki never raised revenue to the level of President William Ruto is raising," he said.
But he also did not shy away from addressing a critical flaw in Ruto's leadership.
He pointed out that while Kibaki meticulously sealed loopholes to prevent the misappropriation of public funds, Ruto is yet to adopt similar measures.
This, he argued, has led to a mismanagement of the revenue raised under Ruto's watch.
The lawyer pointed out that the consequences of this mismanagement are acutely felt by the citizens of Kenya, particularly in the realm of the cost of living.
Omari underscored the pressing need for Ruto to address the issue of fund utilisation, stressing that Kibaki's administration successfully prevented any pilferage of public money.
