Inside Sources Reveals What Could Happen to Sifuna In October After Repeated Defiance Against Raila

Remarks by Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna that he will not sign any agreement allowing President William Ruto to serve beyond one term have stirred tensions within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, where he serves as the secretary general.

“I stand by my position, and I’d like to tell those ODM brokers that I have the right to express my opinion. I will abide by the party’s decisions except any resolution declaring support for President Ruto in the 2027 election,” Mr. Sifuna said.

According to high ranking political sources, there is a clear indicator that the vocal ODM legislator may be stripped of his position during the National Delegates Conference (NDC) in October.

Sources revealed that ODM plans to hold its NDC in mid-October, where members will decide the party’s future regarding the 2027 elections, formalize its relationship with the President, and appoint new officeholders.

Speaking in Saboti Constituency on Sunday, Mr. Sifuna stated that he could not be forced to sign any agreement to support President Ruto, and if pushed, he would leave ODM.
“I am ready to be removed as ODM secretary general because I’ve been told someone has already been endorsed to take my place,” he added.

His statement was supported by Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, who also said they were ready to leave ODM if the party endorsed President Ruto for a second term.

Mr. Sifuna also announced the launch of the Kenya Moja movement, which brings together young MPs from various political affiliations.
