Kenyan Man Leaves KSh 206K Dishwashing Job In France and Heads Back Home, Gives Reason

Alfred’s journey abroad began with hope and ambition, but it quickly turned into a challenging experience that forced him to rethink his plans.

The young man had relocated to France in search of better opportunities, believing that life overseas would offer financial stability and personal growth.

However, just three months later, he made the difficult decision to return home after things failed to go as expected.

While in France, Alfred secured a dishwashing job that paid him approximately KSh 206,000 per month. 

On paper, the salary seemed attractive, especially compared to what many earn back home.

However, the reality on the ground proved far different from his expectations. According to Alfred, the job was physically demanding, involving long working hours that often extended late into the night, leaving him exhausted.

Despite the seemingly high pay, Alfred revealed that most of his earnings went toward rent and basic living expenses. By the time he settled his bills, he was left with little to no savings.

This financial strain made him question whether staying abroad was worth the sacrifice, especially considering the tough working conditions and lack of progress.

In an interview with SVTV Africa, Alfred admitted that he had envisioned a better and more comfortable life abroad. Instead, he found himself struggling to make ends meet, a situation that left him disappointed and frustrated.

He explained that the reality of living and working in a foreign country was not as glamorous as often portrayed on social media.

Having previously run a business in his home country, Alfred decided it was wiser to return and restrategise rather than continue struggling abroad.

He noted that sometimes starting over at home, where one understands the environment better, can be more rewarding than enduring hardships in a foreign land.

His story has since sparked mixed reactions online, with many social media users sharing differing opinions.

Some supported his decision, noting that success abroad takes time and resilience, while others felt he may have given up too soon.

Ultimately, Alfred’s experience serves as a reminder that moving abroad does not always guarantee success.
