"You Stole Food Meant For Drought Relief" DP Kithure Kindiki Hits Back At Gachagua For Telling Ruto To Do This

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has strongly criticised former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his recent call for the government to declare drought in North Eastern Kenya a national disaster.

Kindiki questioned Gachagua’s moral standing to lecture the government on drought mitigation and emergency response.

He said leadership requires integrity and accountability, especially when dealing with sensitive issues such as food security and humanitarian support.

The Deputy President claimed that Gachagua was previously dismissed from public service as a District Officer over allegations of mismanagement of food supplies meant for drought relief. He argued that such a record weakens any attempt to position himself as a champion of affected communities.

Kindiki maintained that the government is fully aware of the situation in North Eastern and is already taking steps to address emerging challenges. He said relevant ministries and agencies are monitoring rainfall patterns, food supply levels, and the condition of livestock in the region.

He added that interventions are ongoing, including water trucking, support for pastoralist communities, and coordination with county governments. According to him, the national government does not wait for political pressure to respond to humanitarian concerns.
