"You're Not Fit For That Position, You Can't Oppose Your Decision" Oburu Odinga Tells Sifuna

ODM party leader Oburu Odinga has again criticised Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, saying he is not fit to serve as the party’s Secretary General.

Speaking during ongoing tensions in the Orange Democratic Movement, Oburu said Sifuna has a habit of going against party decisions. He explained that Sifuna attends meetings with other leaders, where they agree on certain issues, but later comes out in public to oppose the same decisions.

Oburu said this kind of behaviour weakens the party and shows lack of discipline. He stressed that leaders must respect and support decisions made together as a team.

“You cannot agree with members in meetings and then go outside and speak against the same decisions,” Oburu said.

He also made it clear that Sifuna was only removed from the position of Secretary General and not chased away from the party. According to him, Sifuna is still a member of ODM and can continue to take part in party activities.

The ODM leader’s remarks come at a time when the party is facing internal disagreements. Some members support the current leadership, while others, including Sifuna and his allies, have been openly criticising certain party decisions.

This has created clear divisions within ODM, raising concerns about unity ahead of future political activities. Leaders are now calling for calm and unity, even as differences continue to play out in public.
