Kenyans Left Talking as ODM Party Linda Ground Team Gifts Those Attending NDC Meeting

The Orange Democratic Movement party is facing intense internal divisions as two factions prepare for separate events on the same day.

On Friday, March 27, 2026, the Linda Ground team, associated with Oburu Odinga, held its special delegates convention while the rival Linda Mwananchi group planned a parallel gathering.

Amid the tension, Gabriel Oguda, a prominent voice in the Linda Ground camp, shared a post that has sparked widespread discussion.

In the message, he informed attendees that upon reaching the venue, they would receive a gift hamper politely from the GenZ team on site.

He added that the password is Chama Kubwa and ended with the phrase "SISI NDIO OBURU," signaling strong loyalty to the faction.

A video circulating online shows young women in matching uniforms carrying bright orange bags branded with ODM logos.

The women, wearing headscarves and identification badges, appear to be distributing the items inside a large tent decorated with orange and blue colors.

The background features prominent ODM banners and stage lighting, confirming the setting of the party event.

The gesture has left many Kenyans talking, with some viewing it as a creative way to engage and reward supporters during the convention.

Others see it as part of broader efforts to mobilize younger members, particularly from the GenZ demographic, ahead of future political battles.

The ODM party has been grappling with leadership wrangles, with the two factions accusing each other of undermining democratic processes. The Linda Ground team organized its event at a venue in Nairobi, while the opposing side criticized the process as irregular.

As delegates gathered, the distribution of gift hampers highlighted the competitive nature of the gatherings. Political observers note that such on-ground activities could influence attendance and morale within the faction.

The development comes at a critical time as the party positions itself for the 2027 general elections.

The viral post and video have generated significant engagement on social media, reflecting the high level of public interest in ODM's ongoing internal affairs.
