"I'm Still Strong" Speculation As Oburu Oginga Defends His Leadership and Urges ODM Critics to Be Patient Over UDA Working Deal

Oburu Oginga has responded strongly to critics questioning his leadership of the Orange Democratic Movement, saying he still has the strength and determination to guide the party forward.

Speaking during a dedication ceremony at his new office in Strathmore Lavington Offices along Riverside Drive, Oginga dismissed those challenging his leadership, describing them as individuals driven by personal interests rather than the welfare of the party.

According to him, the ODM leadership remains focused on strengthening the party and building a stronger political future despite the criticism coming from some quarters.

“I still have the energy and the will to steer this party to greater heights,” Oginga said, adding that leadership requires patience and commitment to long-term goals.

Oginga also defended the working arrangement between ODM and the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

The cooperation between the two political sides has generated debate among party supporters and political observers in recent months.

He explained that the agreement between the two parties is not something that can be completed within a short time. According to him, the issues covered under the deal are broad and require careful discussion and implementation.

Among the key matters included in the agreement are the 10-point agenda and the recommendations contained in the National Dialogue Committee report, commonly known as the NADCO report.

Oginga noted that these proposals touch on several areas of governance and reforms, which means they cannot be implemented in just one year.

He also announced that a special event scheduled for Tuesday will mark the first anniversary since the ODM-UDA agreement was signed.

During the occasion, the committee overseeing the implementation of the 10-point agenda and the NADCO report is expected to present a preliminary report on the progress made so far.

At the same time, Oginga urged party members who are worried about ODM entering negotiations with UDA and other political groups to remain calm.
