“I Was There From Day One”: Aden Duale Sparks Storm With 2007 ODM Throwback Poster

Cabinet Secretary for Health Aden Duale has stirred debate after sharing a 2007 campaign poster from his time in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), highlighting his early role in the party’s formation.

In his post, Duale emphasized that he was among the founding members of ODM during its formative years under Raila Amolo Odinga as party leader.

He also referenced current President William Ruto, who served as deputy leader at the time, alongside Prof. Anyang Nyong'o as secretary general and Henry Kosgey as national chair. Duale noted that he once held the position of vice chair for political affairs within the party.

However, despite his explaining his political roots in ODM, he was faced with lots of criticism from the public.

Some argue that despite his involvement in ODM's earlier politics, Duale never stayed there long enough to be considered a great person in the party.

Another section furiously questioned what he has done for his constitution since becoming a leader back from his days in ODM.

"You have been of no use to the people of your constituency and county. After 20+ years in politics, your people are still dying from drought, yet here you are posting your 2027 campaign picture.

This only shows how insensitive and out of touch you are as a politician," one X (formerly Twitter) user commented.

Another section questioned Duale's loyalty to any political party, as he has never been stable under any party. "Dear CS Duale, Since 2007 you've switched parties more than anything else. New party for every election."

As Kenya approaches the 2027 general elections, Duale’s renewed political messaging signals his intention to remain an active contender.

However, public reaction indicates that his past affiliations and performance in office will continue to face close scrutiny.
