Check On Action GSU Took as Armed Suspects Killed Kakamega Police During a Robbery at A Police Station

Police have arrested 5 suspects over the death of a police officer who was shot and killed during a robbery in Mumias West.

According to the police, at around 9 p.m., armed attackers riding on two motorbikes stormed Musanda Police Station.

They pretended that their motorbike had been stolen and had come to report the incident before gunfire shattered the silence.

A police officer identified as Richard was killed in the line of duty, while two others were left injured.

They were rushed to the hospital where they were admitted, and the body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.

Senior officers who visited the scene said the suspects grabbed two G3 rifles, each loaded with 20 rounds, and disappeared into the darkness.

The incident caught the attention of the residents, who expressed their concern.

They called on the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, to address the issue of insecurity in the area.

Police called on residents with any information that might assist in the ongoing investigations to come forward and remain calm as investigations continue.

A search is ongoing for the suspects who fled with the firearm.
