DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua has expressed frustration after their motorcade was caught in heavy traffic during a tour of Nakuru County.
Speaking to residents in Maai Mahiu, Gachagua claimed their rally had been deliberately delayed by lorries on the road.
He accused traffic police of being behind the situation, alleging that the trucks had been strategically stationed to slow down their movement and prevent them from reaching their destination on time.
After addressing supporters in Maai Mahiu, the opposition convoy is expected to proceed to Naivasha, then Gilgil Town, and finally Nakuru Town.
The rally comes a day after the opposition suffered setbacks in the February 26 by-elections conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission across four regions.
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party won all four seats up for grabs, including one parliamentary seat and three Member of County Assembly (MCA) positions.
The by-elections were seen as a contest between the Kenya Kwanza administration led by William Ruto and the Rigathi Gachagua-led opposition outfit.
The February 26 mini-polls marked the second political test for President Ruto and Gachagua in the Mt Kenya region ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a previous by-election held last year in Mbeere North, UDA narrowly edged out the opposition in a closely contested parliamentary race.
In the latest round of polls, the opposition once again failed to secure a win, with UDA consolidating its dominance in the contested seats.
