Stephen Letoo has emerged as the leading candidate in the latest opinion poll for the Kilgoris MP seat in Narok County.
The survey by Politrack Africa places him ahead of other hopefuls as the 2027 General Election race begins to take shape. The findings show a growing wave of support around the journalist turned politician.
According to the January 2026 survey, which sampled more than 1,600 respondents, Letoo commands 37.8 percent support if elections were held today.
The results are expected to be released publicly in March 2026. The numbers suggest a strong start for his campaign and a sign of shifting political mood in the constituency.
Incumbent MP Julius Lekakeny Sunkuli follows in second place with 21.3 percent support. Some earlier snapshots place him between 15 and 21 percent.
Sunkuli, a former Internal Security Minister, returned to Parliament in 2022 after years away from elective politics. He now seeks to defend his seat based on experience and legislative record.
Other contenders are also gaining ground. Lawyer Oiboo Morintat polls at about 13 percent. Tourism Principal Secretary John Ololtuaa is also tied at around 13 percent.
The figures show a competitive race shaped by clan influence, youth appeal and performance history.
Letoo, who works as a Senior Political Affairs Journalist at Citizen TV, has built his campaign on grassroots engagement.
He has focused on youth empowerment, women support programs and rural electrification. His message centers on opportunity, development and unity.
Many young voters appear drawn to his fresh approach and direct interaction with residents. Community meetings and outreach events have boosted his visibility across Kilgoris. Supporters say he understands local challenges and offers practical solutions.
Sunkuli on his part highlights his long public service career. He points to his role in parliamentary committees and his background as a lawyer. His allies argue that stability and experience remain key in national leadership.
Political observers note that opinion polls can change over time. Factors such as party backing, campaign strategy and voter turnout will shape the final outcome. Letoo has declared interest under the UDA ticket which may influence alliances.
