POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE: Caleb Amisi Defies Sifuna in Explosive Showdown Over United Opposition Deal.

Caleb Amisi has openly distanced himself from Timothy Sifuna over the proposed United Opposition alliance, triggering a sharp debate within their political ranks.

The disagreement centers on strategy, consultation, and the timing of coalition talks ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Amisi has insisted that any alliance must be built on transparent negotiations and clearly defined policy priorities, signaling that unity without structure risks weakening the opposition rather than strengthening it.

Amisi’s proposal is bold that Sifuna should elevate Siaya Governor James Orengo to Party Leader and hand the Secretary General's mantle to Babu Owino.

The friction within ODM isn't just about titles, it’s about the party’s soul heading into the 2027 elections. Currently, the orange house is split into two distinct camps

There is a pro-government wing led by Oburu Odinga, Gladys Wanga and Junet Mohammed, this group favors a working relationship with President Ruto’s administration.

There is a resistance wing led by Sifuna, Orengo, Babu Owino and Godfrey Osotsi, this faction remains wary of joining the Ruto regime and prefers a more independent, opposition-focused path.

Amisi describes this power struggle in no uncertain terms, it is a "war".

He argues that if Sifuna’s team takes over, there will inevitably be political casualties as they move to align the party with their divergent vision.

The logic is simple but ruthless, if you win the legal right to lead, you must actually lead.

By proposing a lineup featuring heavyweights like Orengo and Babu Owino, Amisi is signaling that the younger, more radical wing of the party is ready to stop playing defense and start dictating the terms of ODM’s future.
