Drama continued in the National Assembly shortly after Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi was kicked out of the House by Speaker Moses Wetang'ula.
National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah stood up to support the Speaker’s decision and went further to sharply criticize Kibagendi.
Ichung’wah thanked Wetang’ula for what he called firm leadership in protecting the dignity of Parliament. He said the Speaker had done the right thing by taking action against a member who had allegedly disrespected the House in public.
He questioned the alternative alliances they support, stressing that ambiguous statements create tension within the party and the community.
During the meeting, Mbadi and the elders expressed concern about possible unrest. They reminded the community that previous protests had cost lives and urged leaders to avoid street demonstrations. The CS called for calm and stressed dialogue as the proper channel for resolving differences.
Mbadi encouraged Sifuna, Babu, and other ODM dissenters to prioritize the greater good over personal interests.
0He cited the example of the late Raila Odinga, who was known for uniting people across political divides when national dialogue was needed.
The Luo elders also asked Mbadi to initiate discussions with President Ruto. Their aim is to explore the possibility of a pre-election agreement before the 2027 general elections.
