The latest Kenya Track Survey 2026 has ranked Cabinet Secretaries based on their performance in service delivery, policy implementation and overall impact on national development, with Geoffrey Ruku and Rebecca Miano emerging as the top performers.
Ruku topped the list with a performance score of 79 per cent. As Cabinet Secretary for Special Programmes, he has overseen nationwide food distribution and drought response initiatives.
The survey credits him with strengthening structured relief systems, expanding coverage to vulnerable households and improving emergency response during climate-related crises.
His sentiments come amid increased visibility of Kenyatta’s engagements with youth groups, small businesses and community organisations in different parts of the country.
The former president has recently been associated with several empowerment drives, including donations to traders and support for education initiatives, moves that have attracted both praise and criticism.
Supporters of Kenyatta argue that his contributions are personal and aimed at uplifting communities at a time when many Kenyans are struggling with the high cost of living.
They insist that as a private citizen, he has the right to support causes he believes in, provided he follows the law.
However, leaders allied to President Ruto have questioned the source and intention of the funds, with some calling for greater transparency and oversight.
They maintain that any large-scale financial disbursement with potential political influence should be scrutinised to ensure fairness and accountability.
The exchange has once again highlighted the widening political divide between allies of the current administration and those associated with the former president.
With political temperatures rising and the 2027 succession debate already taking shape, Kenyatta’s activities are likely to remain a subject of intense national discussion in the coming months.
