The nation is now reeling from the news of a devastating helicopter crash in Nandi County that has claimed the lives of six people, including Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ng’eno.
In the wake of the tragedy, Rigathi Gachagua has addressed a crowd of locals in Naivasha, offering a somber tribute and raising pointed questions about the circumstances of the accident.
Speaking to a visibly moved audience, Gachagua has described the late Ng’eno, often referred to as Ngong Ng’eno Ole Kisiara as more than just a politician.
He has hailed him as a Kipsigis kingpin, a leader who was fearlessly outspoken on sensitive communal issues, particularly the long-standing land disputes in Angata Baragoi, Narok County.
Gachagua’s remarks has painted a picture of a man who was deeply rooted in his heritage and dedicated to the defense of his people’s rights.
The loss of such a central figure has clearly left a vacuum in the region's leadership.
However, the address isn't solely focused on mourning. Gachagua has voiced the growing anxieties of the community, drawing a painful parallel to the past.
He reminded those gathered of Kipkalya Kones, another prominent Kipsigis leader who died in a similar aviation accident.
"The Kipsigis, need a thorough investigation into how that helicopter, registration 5Y-DSB, crashed," Gachagua has stated.
The demand for answers is loud and clear. With the wreckage in Mosop still a fresh wound, the call for a transparent probe into the mechanical or situational causes of the crash has become a focal point for grieving supporters.
As the investigation begins, the focus remains on the six lives lost and the legacy of a leader who spent his final moments among his people.
