Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has dismissed a ban imposed by an AIPCA bishop barring her from speaking in church platforms, while leveling serious corruption allegations against church leadership.
The African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa bishop ordered that Wamuchomba be prohibited from addressing any AIPCA congregations, citing unspecified "insults" from the outspoken legislator. The directive included a threat to expel any reverend who defies the ban and provides her with a platform.
Wamuchomba responded defiantly on social media, challenging the fairness of the ban. She pointed out that congregants at AIPCA Nyaga church had openly chanted "One term" when she addressed them, suggesting they shared her political views.
"Tell the Bishop to ban the whole congregation of AIPCA Nyaga church that chanted 'One term' when I addressed them in support of my stand," she wrote, questioning why only she should face consequences.
Despite the ban, Wamuchomba indicated she would continue her political activities through other church platforms. "So long as I'm not banned in Zayuni, it's a relentless express one term!" she stated, referring to her campaign calling for President William Ruto to serve only one term.
Her stance is particularly notable as she remains a member of the ruling UDA party while openly opposing the President's anticipated re-election bid.
The AIPCA has not clarified what specific statements prompted the ban or responded to Wamuchomba's corruption allegations, leaving questions about the true motivations behind the action.
