Current Situation in CBD as Kenyans Attack Kanjo, Totally Humiliating Him after Demanding Bribe

Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) became the scene of chaos as passengers confronted a county officer, commonly known as a 'kanjo', who allegedly demanded a bribe from a matatu crew.

The incident, captured on video and widely shared on social media, shows the officer seated in the co-driver’s seat, attempting to impound the matatu over a suspected traffic violation.

However, passengers quickly erupted in anger, refusing to allow him to collect any money.

“Shuka wewe, ebu shuka! What do you want the money for? Get off this vehicle right now!” one of the passengers shouted, as others joined in, demanding the officer leave the matatu immediately.

The confrontation escalated as passengers opened the door and physically forced the kanjo out, completely humiliating him in public.

The officer attempted to calm the situation, pleading with the crowd and even making a radio call to colleagues for backup, but his efforts were futile. Passengers remained adamant, declaring they would not allow any bribe to be taken.

Netizens have since reacted strongly to the incident. Some praised the passengers for taking a stand against corruption.

“Now I believe corruption will end. The people are taking matters into their own hands,” commented Macharia Kageni online.

Others, however, criticized both the passengers and the officer, warning about potential legal consequences.

Authorities later intervened, but by then the confrontation had already drawn significant attention across social media platforms, highlighting growing public frustration over alleged bribery in the transport sector.

This latest episode reflects the tense relationship between county enforcement officers and commuters in Nairobi, raising questions about accountability and the need for stricter oversight to curb alleged extortion practices in public transport.
