BREAKING NEWS: Samia Suluhu Names New Cabinet, Appoints Daughter to Plum Position

Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan has named a new Cabinet only weeks after beginning her second term in office.

The announcement was made at State House in Chamwino, where she presented a team she says will help drive her government’s agenda for development, stability, and economic growth.

Among the notable appointments was the selection of her daughter, Wanu Hafidh Wazir, who will now serve as the Deputy Minister for Education, Science and Technology.

Her appointment drew wide public interest, with many Tanzanians closely following the formation of the new Cabinet.

President Samia said the new team is expected to strengthen key ministries and improve service delivery across the country.

She made changes in the President’s Office, the Vice President’s Office, the Prime Minister’s Office, and several independent ministries.

In the Office of the President, she appointed Ridhiwani Kikwete, son of former President Jakaya Kikwete, as Minister for Public Service Management and Good Governance.

Kitila Mkumbo was placed in charge of Planning and Investment, while Joel Nanauka was named Minister for Youth Development.

The Ministry for Union and Environment will now be led by Hamad Yusuph Masauni, with Festo John Ndugange as his deputy.

William Lukuvi was appointed Minister for Policy, Parliament Coordination and Persons with Disabilities, supported by Deputy Minister Ummy Ndeliananga.

In the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations, Clemence Sango was named the Cabinet Secretary, with Rahma Kisuo as the deputy.

Other key ministries also received new leadership, including Finance, Home Affairs, Agriculture, Water, Defence, Transport and Trade.

President Samia also named Angela Kairuki as the new Minister for Communication and Information Technology, while Dorothy Gwajima will oversee the Ministry of Community Development, Gender and Special Groups.

At the Ministry of Health, Mohammed Mchengerwa was appointed Minister, with Florence Samizi as Deputy Minister.

Announcing the list, the president urged the new Cabinet to prioritise transparency, accountability, and service to citizens.

She said her administration is focused on creating more jobs, improving education, expanding infrastructure, and ensuring that government projects are completed on time.

Reactions to the Cabinet reshuffle continue to grow, especially following the appointment of her daughter to a senior government role.
