Bisil town in Kajiado County came to a standstill on Saturday, October 4, as opposition leaders staged a massive rally that drew thousands of residents.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, and DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa led the event under the banner of a united opposition.
The rally was aimed at strengthening their joint push for political reforms and offering an alternative voice to the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The leaders arrived in a convoy that caused excitement across the town, with locals thronging the streets to welcome them. Shops temporarily closed as residents rushed to the rally grounds to hear what the leaders had to say.
In their speeches, the opposition figures criticized the government over the rising cost of living, unemployment, and alleged neglect of marginalized regions. They also called for greater accountability in the management of public resources.
Kalonzo Musyoka emphasized the need for unity, saying the opposition must remain focused to safeguard democracy.
Gachagua accused the government of failing to fulfill campaign promises, while Wamalwa and Muturi urged Kenyans to prepare for a political shift ahead of the 2027 elections.
The rally highlighted growing momentum within the opposition, as leaders continue to tour different parts of the country. Political analysts noted that the display of unity could reshape the political landscape if the coalition maintains its cohesion.
Residents of Bisil described the event as historic, saying it gave them a platform to air their concerns directly to national leaders.
