The Painful Death Of Raila's Brother Who Died Soon After Leaving Prison

In the larger Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his elder brother and Siaya County senator Dr Oburu Oginga are the most recognizable sons of the former freedom fighter and Kenya's first Vice President.

The late Raila is most known for his role in shaping Kenya as we know it today while Dr Oburu Oginga is known for his active role in politics, having served as Bondo MP for 20 years and finance assistant minister during former President Mwai Kibaki's reign.

But unknown to many, Raila and Dr Oburu Oginga had another brother, Raila's follower, who went by the name of Agolla Odinga.

At the time Raila was in jail in the 1980s, Agolla sadly passed and Raila could not attend his funeral.

Agolla was involved in a grisly road accident that saw the occupant of the car he was driving pass on.

He would later report the accident to the police station. On realizing that he was a member of the Odinga family, he was jailed for seven months.

Unknown to the police officers, Agolla was diabetic and was denied medical access. By the time lawyer George Oraro secured his release, he was very sick and died a few days later.
