Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has made a bold political statement by declaring that he is still keen on bringing Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka into government.
Speaking during a Friday morning event in Nairobi, Kindiki said that Kalonzo’s experience and statesmanship were needed in steering Kenya through its current political and economic challenges.
“I have not given up on Kalonzo Musyoka. He is a respected leader who has served this country with dedication. Our doors remain open, and I believe he can play a vital role in helping the government deliver to the people,” Kindiki stated.
His remarks come at a time when political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections are starting to take shape.
Kalonzo, who has remained a key ally of Azimio leader Raila Odinga, has consistently insisted that he will not abandon the opposition cause.
However, sources close to both camps suggest there have been behind-the-scenes negotiations aimed at luring him into President William Ruto’s fold.
Analysts say Kindiki’s open courtship of Kalonzo signals a wider strategy by the Kenya Kwanza administration to weaken the opposition and consolidate political ground in regions where it still faces resistance.
The Wiper leader enjoys massive support in Ukambani, making him a potential game-changer if he were to switch sides.
Reactions from Kenyans have been mixed. Some have welcomed the idea, arguing that inclusivity could help the government fast-track development projects.
Others, particularly Azimio supporters, see it as an attempt to weaken checks and balances.
With Kindiki insisting that the door remains open, the ball now appears firmly in Kalonzo’s court.
Whether he sticks with Raila or considers joining the government remains one of the most closely watched political questions as Kenya edges closer to 2027.
