BREAKING: Raila Finally Sets His Price to Support Ruto in 2027 Presidential Race

ODM leader Raila Odinga has made it clear that he will not be running for president in the 2027 General Election.

Instead, he has set one condition to support President William Ruto’s government: handing the Nairobi governorship to his party.

Sources close to ODM say the party is in talks to back Ruto if their preferred candidate takes over City Hall.

Reports indicate Raila is fronting Makadara MP George Aladwa for the seat, although Embakasi East MP Babu Owino is also eyeing the position.

Babu told People Daily that it was a known fact he would be vying for the Nairobi governorship and there was no turning back.

Aladwa, who had previously considered running for Vihiga governor, has shifted focus to Nairobi after a discussion with Raila.

He confirmed that his party leader had asked him to stay in the city, though no specific seat had been mentioned.

He added that his plan to move to a higher political role remains firm.

In another development, Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi has exited the Nairobi race and declared interest in Bungoma governor.

His move was swiftly endorsed by eight Bungoma MPs, including Sirisia MP John Waluke, who praised Wanyonyi’s leadership track record.

ODM Nairobi officials have since thrown their support behind Aladwa.

They say his past role as Nairobi mayor, loyalty to the party, and connection to the city’s large Luhya community could give him a strong edge in 2027.

The unfolding strategy reveals ODM’s shifting focus and sets the stage for major political deals ahead of the next elections.
