A resurfaced photograph of former Cabinet Minister The Late Dalmas Otieno alongside the late Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang has once again captured the attention of Kenyans.
The image, taken at the home of Otieno’s bride, Dorothy Atieno, during their marriage ceremony, also featured former Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti, offering a glimpse into the camaraderie and social bonds that defined the political class of that era.
The ceremony, held in Homa Bay, marked a special milestone for Mr. Otieno, who took Dorothy Atieno Okello—then a County Executive Committee Member for Tourism, Culture, and Sports—as his third wife.
The three-hour event was attended by prominent leaders, including Kajwang and Awiti, along with several Members of County Assembly from Homa Bay and Migori.
At the time, the marriage coincided with heated national debate over a proposed Marriage Bill, which legalized polygamy but required the consent of existing spouses.
This legal discourse added further attention to the private celebration.

His son, Eddie Otieno, confirmed the news of his demise. Leaders and citizens alike have since paid tribute to the former Rongo MP, recalling his contributions to governance and policy during his decades of service.
Otieno’s journey was also marked by personal tragedy. In 2008, he lost his son Isaiah Otieno, a 23-year-old student in Canada, who died in a helicopter crash.
