HAPPENING NOW: Thousands Flock TikToker Kaluma Boy's Home in Nyeri After Donating Money for His Ailing Father

Othaya Town in Nyeri came to a standstill on Sunday, September 28, 2025, as thousands of Kenyans travelled to support popular TikToker Kaluma Boy, whose story of caring for his sick father has deeply touched many.

For weeks, Kaluma Boy had been sharing videos of his father, who suffered a stroke in August 2024 and later slipped into a three-month coma. He was finally discharged in December last year, but still requires constant care and expensive treatment.

Moved by his story, Kenyans rallied behind the young content creator. Through a paybill number that supporters quickly set up, contributions began pouring in to help cover the father’s daily therapies, medication, and special care needs such as catheter changes.

On Sunday, the online support translated into physical presence. Crowds of well-wishers arrived in matatus, personal cars, and bodabodas, filling Othaya Town before heading to the family’s rural home in Chinga.

The gathering turned into a celebration of solidarity, with visitors calling the event a “healing and restoration” day for Kaluma’s father.

Kaluma, who has over 259,000 TikTok followers, often shares moments with his father on live streams. Many of his fans have grown fond of the ailing man, affectionately referring to him as “dad.” For them, meeting him in person was a way to show gratitude and encouragement.

“My father has been sick for over a year now,” Kaluma explained in one of his live videos.

“He is improving, but he still needs regular therapy. If he can get consistent professional care, his recovery will be much faster. At home, it is not easy.”

According to Kaluma, the family spends up to Ksh1,000 daily on therapy sessions, not including medication and other hospital-related costs.
