Family Demands Answers Four Years After Mwenda Mbijiwe Disappears After Abduction

Four years after security expert Mwenda Mbijiwe vanished without a trace, his family is taking the government to court, demanding answers over his mysterious disappearance.

The move comes amid growing public concern about enforced disappearances and accountability in security operations.

Mwenda Mbijiwe, a well-known figure in national security circles, was reportedly last seen in 2021 with individuals believed to be officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Since that day, his family has been left in anguish, seeking clarity about his whereabouts and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

Speaking to journalists, a family spokesperson said, “We have waited patiently, hoping for answers. Four years is far too long. We are determined to pursue justice for Mwenda and hold those responsible accountable.”

The lawsuit filed against the government accuses security agencies of negligence and possible complicity in Mbijiwe’s disappearance.

Legal analysts suggest the case could set an important precedent, emphasizing the state’s responsibility to protect citizens and ensure transparency in investigations involving its own officers.

Human rights groups have also expressed solidarity with the family, calling for urgent investigations and stronger safeguards to prevent such disappearances in the future. They argue that incidents like this erode public trust in law enforcement and undermine the rule of law.Click here.
