Eerie CCTV: 2 Mystery Men Spotted at Siaya Police Officer's Home In The Dead Of The Night With Huge Pliers

Residents of Bar-Atheng, Ugunja in Siaya County, are living in shock after a CCTV recording showed two men attempting to break into a police officer’s home in the dead of night.

The chilling footage, captured at around 3:30 am, shows the pair armed with a large pair of pliers. The video reveals one suspect, dressed in an orange sweater, struggling to twist and force open the padlock on the officer’s front door. His accomplice paced back and forth nervously, as if keeping watch to alert him in case of danger.

According to residents, the two managed to break into the house and allegedly made away with valuables. The matter has since been reported to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), who are now pursuing the suspects.

One local who shared the video on social media explained how the men used the pliers and a screwdriver in repeated attempts to break through the door.

Despite the risks, they appeared determined, ignoring the presence of CCTV cameras that recorded their every move.

“What shocked us most is that this was a police officer’s home. These young men were fearless. They broke in and stole valuables before escaping,” the resident said.

The CCTV footage, now viral online, has sparked debate among Kenyans about rising insecurity, even in areas where police officers themselves reside.

Many expressed disbelief that criminals would boldly target law enforcers, suggesting either growing confidence among criminal gangs or a worrying breakdown in local security.

Community leaders in Bar-Atheng have called for more patrols in the area, noting that break-ins have become increasingly common.

They urged residents to remain vigilant, especially during late hours, and to report suspicious individuals to the authorities immediately.

Security analysts also note that thieves are increasingly relying on crude but effective tools such as pliers and screwdrivers to gain entry into homes.

Unlike violent armed robberies, these break-ins are often silent, giving the criminals time to operate unnoticed until it’s too late.
