Grief and tension have gripped Kapkio village in Aldai, Nandi County, after a 41-year-old man allegedly murdered a 48-year-old casual laborer whom he suspected of having an affair with his wife.
The victim, originally from the Ukambani region, had been living in the area while working for a nearby family.
According to residents, the suspect had earlier confronted the victim and warned him to stop pursuing his wife.
The warning, which was reportedly shared with close friends and even mentioned on social media, carried a clear threat of serious consequences if the behavior continued.
Gwiji Isaiah, a social media user familiar with the incident, claimed on Facebook that the suspect had warned the victim of dire consequences if he did not stop seducing his wife.
Despite the repeated warnings, the victim was allegedly found in another compromising situation with the suspect’s wife.
That night, the suspect reportedly went to the victim’s house under the cover of darkness and fatally attacked him with a sharp object.
Following the incident, the suspect’s wife is said to have fled to an unknown location out of fear for her life.
Neighbors said she believed she could be the next target.
Angry villagers, shocked by the murder, tried to take matters into their own hands, but police from Nandi South responded quickly and arrested the suspect before violence could erupt.
He is now in custody and is expected to be charged with murder.
The killing has triggered a wider conversation about rising cases of domestic violence, jealousy, and unresolved relationship disputes.
Locals have called for calm and urged the authorities to ensure justice is served as investigations move forward.
