"Stop Red-Carpet Tours and Fix Schools" Furious Parents Confront Ruto Govt Over Learning Conditions

Tension boiled over in Kirinyaga County after angry parents, local leaders, and residents publicly lashed out at the government over what they described as “terrible and humiliating” learning conditions in several public schools across the county.

The outrage exploded during a heated community meeting where frustrated parents accused the administration of neglecting education while spending heavily on political tours and ceremonial launches.

Leading the criticism was Senator James Murango, who delivered a fiery statement directed at President William Ruto and his administration.

“Any government projects in Kirinyaga, we will launch them ourselves! Ruto is wasting time and money coming here for red-carpet walks while our children study in pathetic conditions!” Murango declared angrily to cheering crowds.

Parents described overcrowded classrooms, broken desks, leaking roofs, and shortages of teachers and learning materials in several schools.

Some claimed pupils are being forced to learn under trees or in unsafe buildings despite repeated promises from national leaders.

The emotionally charged gathering quickly turned chaotic as residents demanded immediate action from the Ministry of Education and county leaders.

Chants filled the air as parents accused top officials of prioritizing politics over the future of children.

“We are tired of empty promises,” one furious parent shouted.

“Every time leaders come here, they arrive with convoys and cameras, but nothing changes in our schools.”

The senator’s remarks have now intensified political tensions in the region, with supporters praising him for “speaking the truth” while critics accuse him of fueling confrontation with the national government.

Political analysts say the incident reflects growing public frustration over stalled development projects and the rising pressure on leaders to deliver tangible results instead of public relations events.

Despite the uproar, government officials have yet to issue a detailed response regarding the allegations raised by parents and local leaders in Kirinyaga County.

As the debate continues, residents insist that education must be treated as an urgent priority — warning that continued neglect could trigger even bigger protests in the coming weeks.
