Inside Uhuru's Night Secret Meeting With Opposition Team Endorsing ‘Ruto Must Go' Slogan

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta is reportedly planning a more active role in the 2027 General Election, with the aim of unseating his successor, William Ruto, over what he views as poor leadership and misguided policies.

Following the funeral of former Kirinyaga Senator Daniel Karaba, Uhuru held a 40-minute closed-door meeting with key Opposition figures on Wednesday, April 1.

Leaders present included former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, Fred Matiang’i, Justin Muturi, and James Orengo.

Sources indicate Uhuru played a central role in coordinating the leaders’ attendance at the burial and used the meeting to push for unity.

He cautioned against alleged attempts by Ruto to divide the Opposition, warning that any leader who defects would face backlash from Kenyans.

Uhuru emphasised that their shared goal is to remove Ruto from office, adding that ongoing behind-the-scenes talks are aimed at fronting one strong presidential candidate to challenge him in 2027.
